NOAA has issued a new G1 geomagnetic storm watch for November 6 and 7 UTC, with possible aurora visibility across the northern U.S. tier.
The watch covers the UTC calendar days November 6 and 7—7 p.m. Eastern on November 5 through 7 p.m. Eastern on November 7. It does not mean storm conditions will last throughout that period. NOAA mentions northern Michigan and Maine as examples of where aurora may be visible.
The watch is a forecast, not an observation or a real-time warning. An earlier three-day forecast predicted no G1 storm, but it predates the new watch; the watch itself gives no storm rationale. Clouds, darkness and local conditions matter. Daily planning does not replace NOAA’s official real-time warnings.
