U.S. advisories rate Japan Level 1 and the other nine priority destinations Level 2; some areas carry stronger warnings.
Mexico, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, The Bahamas, Costa Rica, the United Kingdom, France, Italy and Spain are at Level 2: exercise increased caution. Japan is Level 1: exercise normal precautions.
Some areas carry stronger warnings. Spain says reconsider travel to Ceuta; Jamaica lists numerous neighborhoods where travelers should reconsider travel. Mexico says some areas have increased risk and advises travelers to follow restrictions on U.S. government employees, including no intercity travel after dark. France advises avoiding demonstrations, unrest, large crowds and significant police activity.
Among existing Level 4 advisories, the State Department says U.S. citizens in Iran should leave immediately. These are baseline observations, not claims of new changes.
