Hippo says its auto insurance quote tool may have exposed names and driver's license numbers, including those of people without a Hippo relationship.

The company says unauthorized actors may have viewed information returned by the tool from January 2025 through August 2026. People who receive a notice should review Hippo’s notice, monitor their accounts and credit reports, and consider enrolling in the offered free identity protection by January 30, 2027. Hippo says it has no evidence of misuse. California’s breach registry does not cover every US breach.
