Three Copilot models are scheduled for retirement on November 16; affected users should update their workflows.

GitHub says Claude Opus 4.8, Claude Opus 5 and GPT-5.6 Terra will be deprecated across Copilot experiences on November 16. Claude Opus 4.8 will remain available to individual subscribers on annual plans.

GitHub recommends Claude Opus 5.5 as an alternative to the Opus models, and GPT-6.1 Sol or GPT-6 Luna for GPT-5.6 Terra. Update affected workflows and integrations before the deadline. Business and Enterprise administrators should check that the replacement models are enabled, especially if default model enablement has been disabled.
