Claude Code 2.1.318 is the latest stable release; recent updates change permissions and fix configuration and session-handling defects.

As of November 4, 2026:

• Version 2.1.318 expands deniedMcpServers URL blocking and defaults newly onboarded managed-agent tools to the auto permission policy. Say “run without asking” to opt out. IDE-terminal launches no longer install or update the extension; use /ide from an outside terminal or the editor’s extensions view. Self-hosted runner operators should update parsers matching retryable=true: or retryable=false:.
• Anthropic says 2.1.318 fixes permission prompts accepting earlier keystrokes, malformed configuration being replaced with defaults, lost conversation history, and approved commands running in the wrong directory after a cloud or runner restart. Version 2.1.317 fixes an onboarding-guide deletion error and some teammates starting in auto rather than manual mode; 2.1.316 fixes restricted-session uploads outside working directories and incomplete gateway model-policy checks.
• Opus 4.8 fast mode is scheduled for removal on November 30, 2026; requests will error rather than fall back. Anthropic recommends Opus 5.5 to retain the speedup.
